Lately I've been crocheting hats -- they're quick & easy to make -- & oh, so cute!

Stella's Quilt

I made this quilt for our first granddaughter, Stella -- born August 7, 2015.
My friend free motion quilted it on her home machine -- she did a super duper job!
The back is dotted purple on purple -- hard to see the dots but trust me, they're there.
The quilt measures approximately 40x52" -- something Stella can grow into & use for a very long time.
I used some of the same fabric that I used for Lauren's (Stella's mom) apron which I made months ago.

Honu Quilt

I bought most of these fabrics while in Hawaii last January 2015.
Close up of a honu (sea turtle).  I fussy cut each honu to be the "center" of each block.
Used a simple fabric for the back -- sort of sea-like.
Did all of the machine quilting on my Pfaff home machine -- was lots of pushing & pulling -- the quilt measures about 46"x58" -- just big enough to be a bit of a wrestling match -- but I won.

Beatrix Potter Cross Stitch

A framed counted cross stitch picture of Beatrix Potter characters for the baby's room.
The picture does not do it justice -- the mat is purple -- hard to tell here.

Lotta Jansdotter Quilt

I just love LJ's fabrics -- modern & clean.  This quilt measures about 36"x45" -- just the right size for a baby.

Tippy's Table Runner

Another friend is moving away from this area -- so I made her a table runner!  Hard to go wrong with blue, yellow & white -- it's a winning combo of colors.
This is the first I've made pointy ends & I like it.  It's always fun to try something new.

Simple, straight-line machine quilting to finish it off.

Star Blankie

This is something new for me to crochet -- a star-shaped blankie for a baby -- measures about 40" thru the middle.  It's for my first grandbaby girl!  Due early August.  I'm looking forward to meeting her!

I used extra thick, acrylic yarn -- the texture feels very soft; the colors match the baby's room -- light lilac, light gray/taupe & white.

Bunny Lovie

I only recently learned what this is called -- a lovie.  The head is stuffed with polyester fill & the body/blanket is simply crocheted.  Little ones love to carry them around, so I hear.  It measures about 16" from head to tip of blanket.  Perfect size for small hands.

Green Blankie

It's official -- this is my absolute favorite baby blankie to crochet.  I love the solid look of the stitch & the edging adds a touch of cuteness.  Notice the different colors of green!  The top pix is more accurate -- not sure why the bottom pix turned out sort of dusty & grayish.  It's a photog mystery.

Casserole Carriers

What's better than one casserole carrier?  Two casserole carriers.
I followed a purchased pattern to make these -- I had to make adjustments along the way by sometimes referring to my own casserole carrier I made years ago while living in Singapore.
Bob cut the dowels to size to serve as handles.

Nothing says Spring is here more than a Yellow! quilt.
It measures about 52" square.
I machine quilted it -- straight lines.

Kaleidoscope Table Runner

The end of January 2015, I attended a quilt class in New York City at The City Quilter.  The class was given by Paula Nadelstern -- she's famous for her kaleidoscope quilts.
I learned this "60/30" technique.  Using Paula Nadelstern's fabrics (two yards made these six blocks), she taught us how to cut triangles & sew them together to give this kaleidoscope look.
At first glance, the blocks may look the same -- but all six are different.

Sherbet Rainbow

I made this small quilt (42" square) with leftover fabric bits from Candy Tiles.  Perfect for a baby gift!
